The true Godhead does not disregard your sincere heart, nor do we deny the profound, beautiful transformation many experience. The peace, love, and righteousness many feel are absolutely real fruits of the Spirit, and they are clear evidence that our Heavenly Father answered everyone’s heart's cry.
However, to understand exactly what happened to those who follow the false earthly god Trinity and why they are not immediately directed to the restored gospel, we have to look at the massive, overarching reality of the Plan of Salvation.
Lucifer has always wanted to replace the Father and steal His honor. Because he cannot create life or obtain a physical body, he set out to rule through deception. In 2 Corinthians 4:4, the holy writ explicitly declares that Lucifer successfully took the title for himself on this earth, calling him "the god of this world" who actively blinds the minds of people so they cannot see the true light. By tricking the world into accepting his redefined, 1,700-year-old traditional creeds, he got billions of people to worship a formless spirit cloud of his own making, thinking they are serving the true Creator.
It was never the 1,700-year-old traditional creeds that set out to deceive the simple-minded and uneducated of the day; it was Lucifer. It has always been his plan to see how many children of the Godhead Family he could pull away with him, using the god of this world (2 Corinthians 4:4) to blind mankind through the craftiness of men.
God" is a Family Title, Not a Single Mystery Cloud
Latter-day Saints do not worship three separate, independent gods. We worship God the Heavenly Father, in the name of God the Son Jesus Christ, under the witness of God the Holy Ghost.
The word "God" functions exactly like a family surname. Just like a husband, a wife, and a child are three distinct physical individuals who all bear the exact same family name and operate with one single family purpose, the Godhead consists of three distinct Personages who share the one divine title. They are not a confusing, merged essence; They are a perfectly ordered, physical Divine Family.
The wonderful thing is that the Godhead already prepared for Satan’s trickery, ensuring that the plan is perfectly tailored to each individual comfort and agency. Because of the vast deceptions on the earth, God allows his honorable children to receive real portions of His light and grace right where they are. The eternal design, that beautiful transformation is meant to lead to the fullness of the priesthood keys and ordinances that can only be found in His restored kingdom.
If a person remains an honorable, clean, and good individual who heard the true gospel during mortality, but was completely blinded and deceived by the traditions of men—choosing to stay with their creed-bound church out of comfort rather than accepting the truth—they will not be cast into eternal darkness, and most certainly not a fiery pit. They could inherit the Terrestrial Kingdom. In the eternities, every person will ultimately live exactly where they feel most comfortable and where they choose to be. When you pass into the next life, you will hear the uncorrupted truth again. You will have a choice. If a person still wishes to stay with a lie, they choose eternal darkness, but those who want to learn will have every opportunity to progress to the level of glory where they feel completely at peace.
The Definition of Oneness is Agreement, Not Substance
When the Bible says the Lord our God is "one," it is speaking of an absolute, unyielding unity of mind, doctrine, covenant, and action. In John 17:21–22, Jesus Christ prayed that His disciples might become one "even as we are one."
Because human disciples can never physically morph into a single entity or a spirit cloud, this scripture proves the mechanics of the Godhead:
They are one in Their work to save mankind, but completely separate in Their physical identities.
By hiding this family structure, the adversary tries to rob you of your birthright, because if you don't realize that "God" is a family title, you will never realize that you are meant to inherit that exact same divine nature as a joint-heir.
